CALCULUS BY S.I.N (2014)

We solved the differential of our existence
By counting small stones;
But they came
and said that the depths of our minds
were way too shallow.
Their Analyst said we needed
precise axioms and definitions
To capture the ghost of departed quantities.
So they plotted our lives
On their X-Y charts,
Their Palmist read geometric woes
From the lines of our palms
And said; ‘this is the limit
to which your fish brains can function’
But I ask,
Who gave them the rights to run evaluations
And pose theorems of existence?
Who gave them the impetus
To fix yardsticks
And set standards of living?
Who said we are but indefinite integrals
And who made them higher order derivatives?
O tell them,
Tell them that we know
There is a rate of change,
Tell them we know
That the circle is bound in continuity,
Tell them that
We need not their almighty formular
To solve the equation
Of our utter confusion.
Tell them that
We can fix our stochastic systems,
And can find the roots of our own identity.
O tell them
That we shall cover the erotic distance
Between dreams and reality;
When speed and time shares a sweet romance.

WORDAHOLICS WORDSHOTS AT SOMOLU!!!

💣
What an afternoon!

Wordaholics, a monthly open mic literary event's July 2018 edition held at TEAMSWAG in Somolu left lips agape, eyes popping, ears itching for more.

This every second Saturday of the month event commenced with the spoken word poetry open mic session and was beautifully anchored by the witty MC FreezinPaul, who himself is a poetry slam champion with multiple awards.

The open mic afternoon had the likes of CIA, Fathia, Chreezy, Opeoluwa Olatunbosun, Success Ebosetale aka Wordsmith, Poetic Josh and a number of other poets who had the heavens blaring with their amazing play on words, music, electrifying voice modulation among other "ARTOMIC" missiles falling sporadically... What a storm!
that moment Cherry entered the spiritual "field" of poetry

Ediri Agnes "Sissy" who is the CEO; Sissy Plans(an event management outfit based in Lagos Nigeria)  anchored the spoken word slam and just with the same energy they gave at the open mic, these raw talents had bombs in their respective stomachs, they got judges and the audience utterly speechless at how much they had come prepared. Infact, eyewitnesses could describe Opeoluwa, the eventual 1st Runner-Up as a poetess with hammers and caterpillars; bulldozing, little wonder she tied with two very articulate poets; De Wordsmith and the very poetic Josh.

Guest Poets for the day JYC and Cherry Entafield gave the audience a taste of themselves making poetry seem like honey and sugar mixed together and to confirm how it feels to taste poetry, a member of the audience, a man looking to be in his early forties had a confession for JYC...he went like "Goose pimples is all over me now, your words ..."
Josh De Poet, Opeoluwa Olatunbosun and Wordsmith

The day replayed with BankHALL again serenading Yewande Afonja, a first timer with his trademark #MusicalUrbanPoetry while the audience sang along.
